Christ the King Community Center
Christ the King Parish caters for an impressively big number of Catholics and Non-Catholics that constantly organize seminars, workshops, concerts and other activities in the Parish.
The previous Parish Councils of 1980 -1990 saw the need of setting up a larger building that would accommodate all these activities.
On December 1, 1983, the Parish Council Chairman, Mr. John Kabahireho, presenting the Parish Five Year development plan for the period 1983 – 1987 disclosed to the Archbishop of Kampala, Emmanuel Cardinal Nsubuga who was on a Pastoral visit that his Council planned to build a social centre with the aim of making the Parish socially and economically self-sustaining. Said Kabahireho “Our vision is to create a self-sufficient Parish by constructing a social centre that would help generate funds for the Parish activities”
However, the necessary logistics did not allow it till eleven years later. The dawn arrived in 1993 when the Parish Council led by Mr. J.C. Ssekatawa, set itself the task of implementing the proposal. The Council also identified an additional objective as “providing a centre that would be within easy reach of the basic small Christian Communities” A building committee was set and on July 8, 1994, Cardinal Wamala in a simple but very colourful ceremony at the building site, broke the ground for the three-floor high community centre foundation accommodating conference Halls committee rooms for seminars, meetings and workshops.
