Legion of Mary
THE Legion of Mary Apostolate was introduced in Uganda by a lady from Ireland, Edel Quin at Nsambya Parish on July 22, 1938 .The devotion now exists in more than 400 Parishes in the 19 Dioceses of Uganda. The Pioneer presidium of the Legion of Mary was started in Nkokonjeru Parish in 1938 , and it is still serving.
The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active cooperation under ecclesiastical guidance, in Mary’s and the Church’s work of crushing the head of the serpent and advancing the reign of Christ.
Main activity is Legionary Apostolate i.e. visiting the sick, praying for the dead in cemeteries, Charity work, spreading catholic literature, promoting catholic devotions, visiting prisoners etc.
Meetings are conducted weekly and reaching out to the people both within and beyond the parish.
All Catholics who faithfully practice their religion and want to fulfill their role in the apostolate of the church are prepared to fulfill all duties of active membership.
Catholics have to be sacramental and a probation period of three months is given to new members.

- Gate of Heaven Praesidium
- Mother of Mercy Praesidium
