Why call it charismatic?

The word “charismatic” is from the word “charisma” which means gifts of the Holy Spirit. It also refers to elements of the Christian life associated with Pentecost.

Renewal is part of life. We renew licenses, agreements, structures, etc. St Paul urges us Christians not to conform ourselves to the standards of this world, but to be transformed through the Spirit (Romans 12:2). The renewal is to bring back those values that may have been or are being lost over time. In short, it is a move of the Holy Spirit in the Catholic Church, emphasising a personal relationship with and a recommitment to Jesus Christ, beginning a transformation that gradually manifests itself in a positive contribution to the growth of the church and society.

What comes out of this personal encounter with Christ among others are:

• A deep conviction of the reality of God’s love and His faithfulness.
• Appreciation of Christ’s presence in the Eucharist and other sacraments.

• Experiencing the Holy Spirit and witnessing Christ’s power.
• A sense of oneness and fellowship with one another as the body of Christ through prayer meetings.
• A renewed ability to love, forgive, and bring others to appreciate and enjoy this blessing of Jesus Christ.
• A life of joy and peace in Christ even when in difficulties thereby leading to a victorious life.

• Developing artistic gifts and talents in music, dance, and drama, and, creativity to the glory of God the Father.
• Formation of basic Christian communities and prayer groups in our areas of residence.
• Increased lay participation in church activities and the work of evangelisation.
• Reaching out to places and people in response to the spiritual and social concerns of society.

Not exactly, it is a move of the Holy Spirit – a spiritual way of life opens to all and welcomes everyone to this prayer community to help one another in the Christian walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. It does not wish to be just one of the several spiritual movements but can be best described as a ‘current of grace’ valid for every Christian regardless of whether one is a lay person, religious, priest, or bishop. “We do not enter into the renewal. It is the renewal that enters into us if we accept its grace” (Card Suenens Veritas Dublin, 1987).

Good Shepherd: Looking out for members who have taken long without attending fellowship, through phone calls and visits.

Intercession: Praying for the prayer group, the nation and various intentions

Liturgy: Coordinating and Organising Mass

Marriage: Offering pre-marital and marital counselling, and organising marriage seminars and  other activities

Outreach: Visiting Hospitals, prisons and  homes of the needy              

Praise & Worship: Leading priase and worship at prayer meeting and Sunday Mass. Also available to minister at functions like weddings etc

Singles: Promoting vibrant chaste life while discerning the right vocation     

Youth Arise: Empowering the youth to live Christ-centred lives
