The Society of St. Vincent de Paul

NO WORK OF CHARITY IS FOREIGIN TO THE SOCIETY.
Who we are

We are members of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, a worldwide Charitable Christian Community founded by the BLESSED FREDERIC OZANAM in 1833 in Paris- France. It is for catholic lay people, men and women called the “VICENTIANS” They follow Christ through service to those in need and bear witness to his compassionate and liberating love. Members show their commitment through person-to-person contact regardless of creed, ethnicity, social background or political opinion.

Membership

Membership is open to those who seek to live their faith loving and committing themselves to their neighbours in need. The Society helps the poor and disadvantaged speak for themselves where they cannot and acts as a mouthpiece to those who are ignored and whose voices cannot be heard.

Leadership

Each conference is directed by the President elected by a secret ballot by the members. He/She appoints a Board to work with and an Executive. The international is presided over by the International Secretary General. In Uganda, we have the National Office and conferences. Christ the King conference is one of the many conferences and its President is Roselyne Birungi Ssebaleke, the Vice President is Namyalo Betty, and the Treasurer is Tamale Richard Lulinda.

Our Services

The conference supports many needy people who come to the church or are recommended by their parishes for assistance. The Society makes collections every 2nd Sunday of the month, you will find us outside the church with our collection boxes.

The money collected is distributed to the needy people according to the seriousness of the cases presented especially the sick. Great thanks go to all our contributors and donors and our prayer is that the good Lord blesses the work of your hands and you get more bestowed because of your contribution to the needy.

The Society calls for more members to join and well-wishers to continue supporting this noble cause. The challenges are many since we are found in the city centre where most of the vulnerable people are found BUT GOD IS ABLE, with your usual support we shall overcome all challenges.

You can also get some information from the Parish office.
