Legion of Mary
The legion of Mary is an Association of the Catholics; Children, youth, Men and women who with sanction of the church and under the powerful leadership of Mary Immaculate Mediatrix of all Graces, have formed into a Legion for service in warfare which is perpetually being waged by the Church against the forces of evil.
Origin and growth of Legion of Mary
The first enrolment of Legion of Mary took place at Myra House, Francis street, Dublin , Ireland at 8pm on 7th September 1921 and spread throughout the world with both Active and Auxiliary Members.
Objective of the Legion of Mary
Glory of God through holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation, under ecclesiastical guidance , in Mary’s and the church’s work of Crushing the head of the serpent and advancing the reign of Christ.
Membership
There are two Categories of Membership;

| Active Members | Attend weekly meetings and are assigned to do weekly Legion of Mary work |
| Auxiliary Members | They say all prayers on the Legion of Mary Tesserae every day, their prayers enable the expansion of Legion of Mary |
Who can be a member?
- Must be a practicing Catholic ( the one who receives Holy communion)
- Must be over 18 years for senior membership and under that age there is a junior section.
- A person animated by the desire to fulfil their role in the church’s apostolate through membership of the Legion.
- A person who wish to join the Legion of Mary must apply for membership in a praesidium.
