Evangelical Choir

We animate Mass on Sunday at 9:00am

The Evangelical Choir was founded on the 2nd day of March 1981 by the then Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Caesar Mutyaba to sing in the 9 O’clock Sunday Mass.

The founder members were Ms. Nansereko, Ms M.  Nassaka, Ms Namundu (RIP), Mr Vincent Kamanyire (Tinka), Mrs Nganda (RIP), Mr Charles Mwanje (RIP).

The Choir has its weekly practices on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at Christ the King Church Community Center Building stating at 5:30 PM

Objectives
  • To sing Sacred Church Music at Christ the King Church in the 9.00 O’clock Mass or in any other Mass or other place upon invitation or request.
  • To foster and strengthen a good and understanding working relationship amongst other choirs of Christ the King Parish.
  • To lead the Parishioners in church music and liturgical functions.
  • To strengthen and foster a good, understanding and smooth working relationship amongst members.
  • To enable members, develop spiritually.

Since its inception the Evangelical Choir has made great strides towards meeting these objectives.

Membership

The Evangelical Choir has two types of membership namely the Ordinary membership and Supporting membership/Board of trustees.

All members of the Evangelical Choir are guided first and primarily by the norms and principles of the Universal Roman Catholic Church, secondarily by the guidelines set by the Archdiocese of Kampala under the guidance of the Parish Priest and the curate in charge of choirs at Christ the King Parish and thirdly by the constitution set up by the founding members which  guides the members as they are at the duty of evangelization.

The choir is steered by a 12-member executive committee.

The Musical Director is assisted by a technical committee with its current membership including;

International Engagements

The Evangelical Choir’s first major international appearance was at the 45th CONCORSO INTERNAZIONALE DI CANTO CORALE which took place between the 3-10 of July 2006 in Gorizia, Italy.

This was later followed by a series of other international performances in Fulda-Germany, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, and the most recent one in Moessingen, Germany in April 2016.
