Christ the King Church Choir
Christ the King Church Choir leads the singing during the 10 O’clock mass every Sunday and has been in service of Christ the King Parish, Kampala since 1936. The choir comprised, at that time, mainly the Goan community (Indians) with a few indigenous Ugandan members. In the 1960’s and 70’s, a good number of choir members from the Goan community left the country leaving the few Ugandans to take up the task of re-building the Choir by recruiting more Ugandans into the Choir.
The Choir has enjoyed steady growth in its membership, which for quite some time now has grown to about 60 active members. The membership is diverse with men and women from different walks of life who have offered their service and voices to God and the Church on purely voluntary basis. It is gratifying to note that since its inception, the choir has been in attendance during the 10 O’clock Mass at Christ the King Church, every Sunday up to the present day.
The choir is led by a Chairperson who is the overall Chief Administrator and Accounting Officer, with the Director of Music as the Chief Technical Officer. The Parish Priest is the Patron of the Choir.
